Don’t Be Smitten Into That Soft Talk

Don’t be smitten into that soft talk,
Gentle Stories shall pervert your mind;
Mellow, mellow in twisting of the light.

Wise talk but in the end shows it’s a folk,
Because gentle and mild so lies are kind
Don’t be smitten into that soft talk.

Nice talk with lies is in and they’re in bulk
Distortion behind mild words is to find
Mellow, mellow in twisting of the light.

Vice talk who fought sowed darkness and stalk,
Dourness behind the sight molded and bind
Don’t be smitten into that soft talk.

Decorous talk is showing to be balk,
Seems prudent but at worst proves to be blind
Mellow, mellow in twisting of the light.

Hear it my good friend, there on the out-talk
I can see through, I saw a mastermind.
Don’t be smitten into that soft talk.
Mellow, mellow in twisting of the light.

Smitten

The Common Negative Way of Thinking

Life is sometimes blurred, out of focus, without power or purpose. Life has such difficulties. Of course we live in this troubled world with such hardships, but the worst is when a sufferer is finally convinced that he can’t cope with them. Although when a person seems to have normal intelligence, adequate education and all the necessary attributes for successful living, he can’t summon them to his aid. Such vulnerability: thinking of himself as a small man proclaiming unimportance; thus, they became only a person of vagueness and self-limiting. That is the common negative way of thinking (which the normal Filipinos are also experiencing.) The problem cited above is common to the Philippines. And with that kind of thinking, evil doers are in their attempt of taking advantage to their precarious situation.

Filipinos are happy people even in a laborious job. Many of them work as employees, but most of them are satisfied of being that way. In the Philippines, it is very hard to find a job; and when he or she finds job he treasures it. But the problem is: they became dependent on their masters, that is, they became so afraid if they lose their job. And when problems arise, they don’t know how to summon the adequate or even the proper aid. Worms don’t have feet so they can’t stand on their own. How pitiful such kind of situation. But some may reason that high education is a key to success. That is a big failure. Education should make a person to think rightly, speak rightly, and act rightly.

Meanwhile, if we continue to small ourselves, we are in fact developing the three deadly characteristics: inertia, self-doubt and aimlessness. This world is full of evils like those we see in everyday news (corrupt politicians, leaders, business owners; for example, are corrupt individuals.) So if we keep denying ourselves proclaiming unimportance, evil minded became powerful giants amidst us. The more they tower on us the more they gain power and importance, because of some Filipinos’ lacking of self-esteem, confidence and critical thinking. “If they’re here, we have work; if they leave, we suffer” is a very detestable thing to hear. It makes Filipinos with normal thinking abilities become worms that can’t even stand on his own feet because worms don’t have. We are not their worms to bait their fish. We have our own fish to bait. Therefore, all we need is to learn how to fish. We have God-giving-knowledge that we deserve. It doesn’t mean that you should have a very high education. But education should be a success by acquiring right knowledge, by changing point of view for the better, and by becoming a broad minded thinker so we never be scammed and cheated by anyone.

Indeed, evil giants are individuals whose mind is corrupted, twisted, and unreliable; but they cannot be haughty, do so much evil, look down upon us, and make themselves dominant somehow, if we just know how to think rightly, speak rightly and act rightly; and if we just know how to use our education in a right way, we are not vulnerable in any attempt of degradation and deceit. And finally, we can live a normal life without being dependent to anyone especially those evils who disguised themselves with benevolence.

Blind Obedience

Life is not all about money, wealth, fame and power. It is all about the trip to the whereabouts of happiness—the meaningful life. That is the advantage of most Filipinos, always looking forward for the true happiness. Therefore, all we need to do is to drive to happiness with the right guide and direction. For example, we should not blindly believe what others teach without first researching information and facts about someone’s teaching. Would you not agree that driving with blindfold is dangerous? Likewise, blind obedience will simply ruin your life and will only bring dissatisfaction and regret.

Everyone deserved a satisfying life. It happens when we are not been misdirected by anyone who claims to have the right understanding. Therefore, we must be rational and reasonable, and should look at facts and apply logic and action. Sad to say, even educated people take a dim view neither examine the ideas that are supposed to make them free from errors, so they are more pitiful than the weak-minded. So I quote, “weak-minded are better than close-minded.” Sadly, many continue to fool themselves, and some stick to their own inherited beliefs without any knowledge of it. “…blindly obedience is itself the cause and origin of those whims and those guilty of it are really to be blamed” –Jose Rizal. He said that the cause and origin of those whims is by blindly obeying. Furthermore, he stated that ignorance has ever been ignorance, and never been prudence and honor. Therefore, if we are close-minded and continue to let ourselves be deceived and hoodwinked, we are not really a broad minded thinker but a mere superstitious ignoramus, narrow minded fanatic, as well as a prisoner of blind obedience.

We should not allow anyone to take advantage to us nor allow ourselves to be fooled, hoodwinked, and deceived. I believe that Filipinos have a great faith, and that faith should not be wasted and thrown into nothingness. Let our light shine by obeying what is only reasonable, logical, and evident. Hence, the idea is not a new one. The Bible teaches that evidence is essential to genuine faith. A staggering counsel that is profoundly true.
